Forbes.kz talked to the Chairman of the IQAA Supervisory Board, professor, ex-Minister of Economy and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan about the coronavirus, the fall in oil prices, the public emergencies in the country and the consequences for the Kazakhstani economy.
Former Minister of Economy and Trade, as well as Education and Science, and now the scientific director of AERC, Chairman of the IQAA Supervisory Board, Professor of Economics Zhaksybek Kulekeyev believes that the imposition of the public emergencies has become a inductive, but necessary measure.
- The decree of the President has become correct. At first glance, it may seem that this decision is excessive – only 8 infected people, but look at other countries: restrictive measures are also introduced there. The Italians generally missed the time for the introduction of the public emergencies in the country. Some states also missed the moment when they could get away with a slight fright. In this situation, you need to react firmly and quickly. Now the main thing is to get out of this whole story with minimal losses: human and economic, - said Zhaksybek Kulekeyev.
