INQAAHE President Dr. Deb Adair, in her letter, expressed her gratitude to the management and staff of the Agency as the organizer of the preparation and holding of the 17th INQAAHE 2023 Biennial Conference "Roadmap for Quality Assurance in Higher Education 2030", held from May 29 to June 1, 2023 in Astana.
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am pleased to introduce the news from our network for this second quarter of 2023. It reflects the hard work and achievements of many of our members and may provide ideas for activities and engagements that may inspire you. I am always heartened to see the many collaboration and information sharing activities that are initiated by different agencies, because this is the surest, most effective path to capacity building and advancement for our field. We are all in the business of continuous improvement towards the levels of quality we seek; efforts that apply to our own agencies and institutions as well as to those we evaluate. There is plenty of room for us all to grow and evidence of this commitment can be found in many of the news items below, including efforts to increase student engagement in QA, QA staff exchanges and visits, conferences and seminars, and the refinement of review and evaluation procedures.
I would be remiss if I did not address the INQAAHE Conference 2023, warmly and generously hosted last month in Astana, Kazakhstan, by our friends and colleagues at the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance (IQAA). This was certainly a major focus of our efforts in Q2! I offer my sincere gratitude to the entire team at IQAA, including Daulet Kalanova, Head of Administration and International Cooperation, and, most especially, to Sholpan Kalanova, President of IQAA. They worked tirelessly to support the event, ensuring all aspects were well-managed and that participants had a rewarding and enjoyable experience. The social events were a standout, especially the opportunity to see Madame Butterfly at the spectacular Astana Opera and the wonderful Gala Dinner, where everyone danced until they could dance no more! I also want to thank all the speakers, chairs, and participants, whether onsite or remote, for their participation and engagement. Finally, many thanks to the Conference 2023 Chair, Fabrizio Trifiro, whose leadership of the program committee and thoughtfulness about the program significantly contributed to the success of the event.
Deborah Adair
8th President of INQAAHE
