In the framework of realization of the objectives set by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the development of the system of the national education, as well as the programme "The road to Europe", on March 11, 2010 in Budapest, in course of the meeting of the Bologna Forum of Ministers responsible for higher education sector of the European region, Kazakhstan joined the Bologna Process.
This event, which is considered historically important for the Kazakh system of education, meant the integration of our country in the European Area of Higher Education.
The decision of joining the Republic of Kazakhstan was unanimously supported by representatives of 46 countries, which signed the Bologna Declaration.
The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, during the forum highlighted that the approval of the positive decision on joining the Bologna Process is a result of the positive assessment by European academic communities of conducted in our country reforms in the sphere of higher education. Joining to the Bologna Process provides Kazakhstani universities with a number of advantages, as as the regulation of the national study programmes in compliance with the European standards, recognition of Kazakhstani qualifications and academic degrees, assurance of academic mobility of students and faculty, transfer of credits of students from Kazakhstan studying in foreign universities, convertibility of Kazakhstani diplomas in Europe and expansion of opportunities for Kazakhstani graduates abroad.
