The Minister of education and science, Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov, visited Bucharest, where he attended the III Conference for ministers of education from countries-participants of the Bologna process, which took place on April 26-27, 2012. The conference was attended by the representatives of delegations from 47 countries-participants of the Bologna process, European Commission, Bologna Follow-up Group and other international organizations. At the conference, participants discussed such topics as academic mobility, approaches to enhancing the quality of higher education, the role of higher education in the employability of university graduates, etc. In the course of the conference, participants adopted the Bucharest Communique.
In the framework of the conference, there was a holding of the third Bologna Forum "Beyond the Bologna Process: creation and amalgamation of national, regional and global educational areas".
Apart from taking part in the conference, the Head of the Ministry of education and science, Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov, undertook a number of meetings with the ministers of education from member countries of the European Area of Higher Education, in particular with the Minister of education and Science from Poland, Barbara Kudrycka, and with the Minister of education, universities, and research from Italy, Francesco Profumo. The topics for discussion also included the academic mobility, student and faculty exchanges. The Head of the Ministry of Education and Science also visited a number of educational and research organizations также, including one of the leading universities in Romania – Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
